Charlotte Wood Middle School Charger Fund

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT?
teacher
The Charger Fund's goals are class size reduction and technology. These two issues benefit every child at Charlotte Wood. While studies show that smaller class sizes improve the educational experience, the State of California does not fund class size reduction at the middle school level. Nor are there government funds to purchase technology in our schools. Therefore, we rely on parent donations and company's corporate matches to buy new technology.

HOW CAN I HELP?

This year, the state’s reduction in education funds has forced our district and our school to rely more heavily on the parents and the community for support. In order to maintain lower class sizes and to fund our technology commitments, we ask for a tax-deductible donation of $550 per student. Many thanks to those parents who were able to contribute this year; the staff and community thank you for your support.  If you have not yet contributed and would like to make a donation, please go to Charger Fund Donation to get started.  You can donate at any time of the year. Right now we are accepting donations for the 2023-2024 academic year during our Spring Donation campaign.

ABOUT US

The Charlotte Wood Charger Fund is a parent-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds to supplement our children's middle school education. We are an affiliate of the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation (SRVEF). The SRVEF was founded in 1990 with the same primary goal that we have today – to reduce class sizes in core academic classes. Our other area of focus is to purchase technology to support 21st century learning.

WHO BENEFITS FROM THE CHARGER FUND?

Class size reduction benefits every student at Charlotte Wood every day by keeping core academic class sizes lower. Without Charger Fund donations, these classes would have a higher average of students. And as we upgrade more and more classrooms with cutting edge technology, students are seeing the benefits of Charger Fund in this way as well.

HOW DOES THE CHARGER FUND SUPPORT 21ST CENTURY LEARNING?

TechnologyTo best prepare our students for the future, we need to equip them with 21st century learning opportunities. Your Charger Fund donations allow us to purchase technology that enhances the learning experience both in the computer lab and in classrooms. Depending on the specific classroom need, this may mean document cameras that allow the entire class to work off a common document, smart boards that enable interactive problem-solving, or laptops and Chromebooks that let students conduct real time research or complete individualized writing and editing lessons. The Charger Fund also pays for the personnel that keeps this powerful technology current and working for maximum benefit.
